Islamabad: Pakistani-American businessman Mansoor Ijaz has set several conditions for appearing before the judicial panel probing the memo scandal,including a guarantee of safe passage and provision of security during his stay in Islamabad. In an email sent to the commission,Ijaz said he would not be able to appear before the panel until after the middle of January.

Sherry Rehman arrives in US

WASHINGTON: Sherry Rehman,Pakistans Ambassador-designate to the US,arrived here Sunday with the tough task of restoring normalcy in relations between the two countries. Rehman,who replaces Husain Haqqani,is expected to present her credentials to US President Barack Obama on January 18,said a spokesman of the Pakistani Embassy in Washington.

No plans to resign,says Zardari

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari said he wont step down over the memo scandal. Speaking on Geo News TV,he said,No one has asked me yet. He also said the government will not approach Swiss authorities to reopen a probe into allegations of money laundering against him,a move that could anger the Supreme Court which demanded revival of such cases.
