Dressed to the nines,celebrities came out in full force for the awards. And what a sight they were,at the red carpet! Dressed in an irresistible black gown designed by Preeti. S. Kapoor,Kalki walked in with hubby Anurag Kashyap. The light-eyed beauty looked chic in a Goth-meets-Victorian ensemble with a vintage lacy bust and back. She served as a precursor to a bevy of well-turned-out beauties. East meets West The evening saw an equal number of actresses opting for gowns and ethnic wear. While Anushka Sharma,Chitrangda Singh,Deepika Padukone and Dipannita Sharma looked resplendent in glitzy,figure-hugging,floor-length gowns,Ekta Kapoor,Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre Behl impressed us with their elegant traditional outfits. Our Indian beauties once again proved that the humble sari will never go out of fashion. While Priyanka Chopra was draped in a shimmery beige Manish Malhotra creation,Rekha chose to hit the red carpet in her trademark Kanjeevaram sari. Looking effortlessly elegant was Vidya Balan in a black-and-gold Kanjeevaram sari. Newbies owned the night Aditi Rao-Hydari,Amy Jackson,Kirti Kulhari,Monica Dogra, Poorna Jagannathan,Shazahn Padamsee and Zoa Morani,the new entrants on the red carpet,packed a punch with their style. Aditis one-shoulder lavender floor-length gown complimented her light complexion and delicate features perfectly. Amy Jackson (Prateiks co-star in Ekk Deewana Tha) was a sight to behold in a figure-hugging gown by Namrata Joshipura,with a long slit that showed off her toned legs. Incidentally,a day after the 18th Annual Colors Screen Awards 2012,fashionistas blogged endlessly about the uncanny resemblance between Amy and Hollywood actor Megan Fox. Poorna,who found her groove as the witty scribe in Delhi Belly,made her red carpet debut in a Falguni and Peacock gown styled by Chandni Bahri. It was a delight to watch Shazahn Padamsee live up to the 70s look in her red-and-black printed cleavage-plunging gown by Nachiket Barve with a knee-high slit. Im a huge fan of that era thats why I chose to stick to a dress from the 70s, Shazahn said. Her side-swept hair style and red lipstick completed the look. While most newbies opted for designer wear,few actors settled for non-designer creations. Kirti Kulhari chose a layered orange anarkali while Zoa Morani looked effortlessly chic in a white sari that she picked up from a store in Delhi's Hauz Khaas. White nights Instead of the usual red and black gowns,white reigned supreme at the red carpet. Pooja Bhatt looked sassy in a white trench coat while Padmini Kolhapure opted for an elegant sequined sari. Dia Mirzas flowing salwar-kameez with gold embellishments gave her an ethereal feel. Though the little black dress was sorely missed by the fashion police at the 18th Annual Colors Screen Awards 2012,on a parting note,an interesting mix of gowns,saris and Indian wear made its presence felt at the high-profile event. Ameesha Patelsizzled the red carpet in a layered strapless red gown,side swept hair,chandelier earrings and a gold minaudiere clutch Poorna Jagannathanwas dressed in a strappy Falguni and Peacock gown which was styled by Chandni Bahri with jewellery by Amrapali Anushka SharmaAfter her on-stage performance,Anushka Sharma quickly slipped into a glamorous red satin gown by designer Bibhu Mohapatra. She accessorised her all-white outfit with a traditional kundan necklace and a side swept pony-tail Dipannita Sharmawas dolled up in a gothic style gown by Gavin Miquel and jewellery by Amrapali. I love the blue sheath that peeps out from the slit at the leg, she gushed. Aarti Chabria made her red carpet entry in a little blue dress teamed perfectly with black heels and a matching clutch Aditi Rao Hydari was dressed in a flattering one-shouldered silk purple dress. She stuck to minimalistic make-up,and accessorised her outfit with traditional gold jewellery Shazahn Padamseerocked the red carpet in a red-and-black gown inspired by the 70s with her hair tied in a pony tail. Im so in love with the 70s. Thats why I chose this Nachiket Barve dress inspired by the era. Chitrangda singhplayed it safe in a shimmering black gown by Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna. She completed the look with silver earrings and black nail-paint Amy Jacksondecided to make a huge splash in this brown silhoutte designed by Namrata Joshipura. Note the gold clutch and red nail paint that complimented the outfit Kalki Koechlinnever looked more gorgeous. Dressed in a black gown with a lacy back and bust by fashion designer Preeti. S. Kapoor,the actor looked a million bucks Monica Dograpacked a punch in a backless orange and green strapless maxi by Shivan and Narresh. The Dhobi Ghat actor matched her outfit with a cream clutch and colour-coordinated shoes Sonal Chauhanwalked the red carpet in a shimmering black outfit by Pria Kataria Puri,with her hair tied back in a bun. I chose this sari as I loved the colour and work on it, quipped the actor Mahie Gilldraped a Ritu Kumar sari for the occasion.
