The film revolves around the lives of three characters,George,Marie Lelay and Marcus. It opens in Thailand, where a French journalist,Marie Cecile de France,is nearly killed in a Tsunami. Before Marie is brought back to life, she has a vision of shadowy human figures in a heavenly field of light.
When Marie returns to France, she finds herself consumed by thoughts of the afterlife, and eventually leaves her job to research the topic. Miles away in England,Marcus is a boy whose twin brother is killed in an accident. In an attempt to re-establish a connection with his brother,Marcus goes on an odyssey through the Internets community of psychics and mediums.
And in USA,George Matt Damon a blue-collar American fights with a special connection he has to the afterlife; a quality that he hates to live with. Each set out on a path in search of the truth and their lives intersect.
Director Clint Eastwood says: The way the script was laid out,it seemed like something that I had never seen before. It had such great dilemmas and dimensions. I liked the way Peter wrote the three stories that stand alone but at the same time are connected.
The Buzz
Years ago Clint Eastwood was stranded in the ocean for several days, after his naval training plane crashed. The experience helped the director shoot the Tsunami sequence in the film.
