Underscoring that India’s growth fact sheet is the success story of the mantra ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Sunday that amid great global uncertainty, the country is witnessing an unprecedented era of certainty, augmented by political stability, policy continuity, and an expanding neo-middle class with increasing purchasing power, making India a nation of limitless possibilities.
Speaking at the Saurashtra and Kutch regional conference of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Modi said he was happy to attend the summit after bowing to Lord Somnath and added that his belief was ‘Virasat Bhi, Vikas Bhi’ (a combination of heritage and development).
He recalled that the summit was launched when he was Gujarat CM to introduce the state to global investors, and expressed satisfaction that it had grown from strength to strength, with 10 editions held so far, and was being carried forward by his successors, making it a global benchmark. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Reliance Industries CMD, Mukesh Ambani, and Managing Director of Adani Ports & SEZ Ltd, Karan Adani, among others were present on the occasion.
Commending the significant contribution of Gujarat which has “nature, adventure, culture as well as heritage” to the country’s growth story, Modi pointed out India is moving towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, and the data shows global expectations from India are continuously rising. He underlined India is the fastest growing large economy, inflation is under control, agriculture production is achieving new records. India tops in production of milk, generic medicines and vaccines, he said.
“India’s growth fact sheet is the success story of the mantra Reform, Perform and Transform,” Modi said. In the past 11 years, he said, India has become the world’s largest consumer of mobile data, UPI is number one real-time digital transaction platform globally, and India is world’s second-largest mobile phone manufacturer.
“Every global expert and institution is bullish on India,” the PM said, noting that IMF calls India the engine of global growth, S&P has upgraded India’s rating after 18 years, and Fitch Ratings has praised India’s macro stability and fiscal credibility. “This global trust in India exists because, amid great global uncertainty, India is witnessing an unprecedented era of certainty. India enjoys political stability, policy continuity, and an expanding neo-middle class with increasing purchasing power, making India a nation of limitless possibilities,” he said.
Apart from corporates, he said even the MSMEs brainstormed during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit while pointing out that Rajkot alone has more than 2.5 lakh MSMEs, and in its diverse industrial clusters—which produce everything from screwdrivers to auto parts, machine tools, luxury car liners, airplane, fighter plane, and rocket components.
