Jawan dies in road accident in Satara, wife and 8 hour old baby attend final rites

JUST a few hours after Indian Army jawan Pramod Jadhav (32) died in a road accident in Satara on Friday evening, his wife delivered a baby girl. His wife was brought on a stretcher along with the few hours old baby directly from the hospital for the final rites. Jadhav was accorded a State funeral.

Pramod Parshuram Jadhav was a resident of Dare village in Satara taluka. He was with Border Security Force and was currently posted in Ladakh. He had come home on leave about eight days ago to support his wife during childbirth.

On Friday evening, Jadhav was riding a motorcycle towards Vadhe Phata for some personal work. A tempo rammed into his bike. Jadhav fell to the ground, was hit by another two-wheeler and seriously injured. He was admitted to the hospital where the doctors pronounced him dead around 10 pm. In the morning, his wife delivered the baby.

The funeral held at his native Dare village on Saturday evening where his wife was brought on a stretcher to pay last respects. As she was brought near the coffin, she broke down bringing tears to several mourners, which including local villagers, citizens, police and ex-servicemen. ”The woman delivered the baby just 8 hours before the funeral..The baby was also brought for the final rites see her father one last time,” said a district official said.
