The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad ATS arrested another member of the Hindu group Sanatan Sanstha from Bhusawal in Jalgaon district,for his alleged role in the October 2009 Goa blast.
Prashant Juvekar,24,was one of the four people declared as wanted by the NIA in its chargesheet filed earlier this year,police said.
On October 16,2009,a low intensity bomb went off near Grace Church Marg in the commercial town of Margao in Goa,killing Sanatan activists Malgounda Patil and Yogesh Naik who were to plant the bomb.
The NIA had submitted a chargesheet in the case on May 17 this year. Five people were arrested and two accused Malgounda Patil and Yogesh Naik,died in the blast. Four others were named as wanted accused,and among them Juvekar was one of the main conspirators and had participated in terror training in Madgaon in August 2009, said ATS chief Rakesh Maria.
The ATS was following leads,and our team worked on the case for quite a few months8230;. Ultimately at 9:45 am on July 31 an ATS team arrested Juvekar from Bhusawal railway station. We have informed the NIA and as soon as they secure a production warrant,we will hand him over, said Maria.
Police recovered a 7.65 mm factory made pistol with four live rounds from Juvekar. He was produced in a Nashik court on Saturday and has been remanded to police custody till August 3.
