Gill trips on facts

An alert Opposition put Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs M S Gill on the mat during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday after he made a factually incorrect remark. As the Opposition created a din,Gill wriggled out of the situation by saying he had no problem admitting the error. The trouble started when Gill,while responding to a supplementary by Dushyant Singh BJP,happened to remark that Nehru Yuvak Kendras NYK had been in existence since the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. The scheme has been in place since Nehrus time, he said adding they had been in existence in 501 districts for a long time. Senior BJP members Ananth Kumar and Harin Pathak sprang up to register their protest. Pathak contended the scheme was launched in 1987 and not during Nehrus time as Gill had stated.
