A four-year-old girl is battling for life after she was raped by her uncle in Rajnandgaon, the constituency of Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh,on Sunday.

The girl was brought to Ambedkar Medical College and Hospital in Raipur early Monday morning but the doctors reportedly refused to admit her and asked for a rape certificate. Her treatment could begin only at noon.

The police, however, claimed she was quickly operated upon. We received a complaint Sunday evening that a girl had gone missing. We soon managed to trace the accused, who confessed to his crime, Rajnandgaon SP Sanjeev Shukla said.

The accused,21,took the police to a nearby pond where they found the girl, unconscious. Her condition was serious. If we had not reached her in time she would have died there, Shukla said.

The police rushed the girl to the Raipur hospital, where doctors operated upon her,Shukla claimed. Her father, however, told TV news channels they reached Raipur about an hour past midnight but the doctors refused to admit his daughter. They first asked for SDMs certificate about rape, he said. The girl finally underwent a two-hour operation around noon,he added. She has suffered massive injuries and she is critical.

Blaming the BJP for failing to provide a secure environment for women,Congress spokesman S N Trivedi listed the rapes of minors in recent months and pointed out that girls were unsafe even in the CMs constituency.
