Screen recently reported the death of Satish Bhatnagar aged 88. According to the small article,he died in penury, not having money to pay hospital bills and having to depend on charity from friends etc. Why does a writer with a list of top film scripts to his credit, who had given the best years of his life and talent to the industry, die in penury? This has happened before with talented film personalities. An association should be formed and film folk should contribute to it for the welfare of such persons. In the USA and UK they have homes where they are looked after till the very end. Screen should champion this cause.
