The Teenaged son of a former Conservative MP from Birmingham has died due to suspected drug overdose in Manali.

Inspector General of Police law and order,Shimla,S R Mardi confirmed that Adam Coombs,19,son of former Conservative MP from Birmingham Derek Coombs, had died at Manalis Orchard Guest House on May 28. He was staying with his friend Ross Taylor, also 19.

Me and Adam went for a late-night stroll in the valley where we took opium. Around 3 pm the next day I woke up and found Adam sleeping. I tried to wake him up and found that his body was cold, Ross told the police. After Ross sought help of the hotel staff,Adam was shifted to a local hospital where he was declared dead.

On the basis of Rosss information the police got a post-mortem conducted on Adams body. The police at Manali collected the samples of viscera and sent these to regional Forensic Laboratory at Mandi. The report is awaited, said Mardi.

The police said Adam was in Manali for sight-seeing,but they are clueless about the source of the drug which the two had consumed.

An officer at Manali police station told The Indian Express on the phone that the police had informed the British High Commission in New Delhi and also contacted Adams family.

The postmortem was carried out only after the arrival of Adams brother Fiann Coombs and Commission officials on June 1. Later, the body was handed over to them for last rites in UK.
