With respect to 1961 8211; Golden Memories by Rajiv Vijayakar April 17,the article was nice but here are my notes about some omissions and errors.
The most important blunder was that Raj Kapoors Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai,B.R.Chopras Kanoon and Filmalayas Hum Hindustani were omitted. These films were released in 1961 and were perhaps given censor certificates in 1960. Jis Desh8230; ran for 41weeks in Kolkata. The other mistakes are as follows: Sasural came after Chhoti Bahen, not Sharda. Dharmputra,Shola Aur Shabnam and Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja were released in 1962,not in 1961. Manoj Kumar had his first lead role in Honeymoon released in 1960,not in Kanch Ki Gudiya in 1961.
In Jhumroo,Madhubala was cast opposite Kishore Kumar. R.D.Burmans first hit song was the Lata-Rafi duet,Matwali aankhon wale that stood fifth in the Binaca Geet Mala annual programme.
Also,in the list of grossers,V. Shantarams Stree,Nazrana and Homi Wadias Sampoorna Ramayan were silver jubilee hits.

Rajiv Vijayakar replies:
In those days of irksome distribution issues unlike today when movies release on the same day worldwide,a film would often release in different years in various parts of India. For example,I watched Mehboob Ki Mehndi in 1971 in the North and it released in Mumbai in 1974. Multiple sources list all the films I have mentioned as 1961 releases.
According to Manoj Kumar,Kaanch Ki Gudiya was his first film as a hero. Maybe Honeymoon got released first. It is also difficult to assess past box-office performance which is the ratio of cost to profit and not jubilee runs as different sources quote diverse lists. Ghar aaja is the prime song still famous from Chhote Nawab and it was a natural assumption that it had been the biggest hit song even then.
The Jhumroo and Sharda errors and the erroneous statement that Junglee was in black-and-white are, however, sincerely regretted.
