The Election Commission Friday issued a notice to TRS MP,Vijayashanti, for violating the Model Code of Conduct by allegedly making inflammatory remarks while addressing an election meeting of party workers in Hyderabad.
The popular actress Vijayashanti was reported to have incited the women to chop down those opposing separate statehood for Telangana during her address to the party workers on June 30.
It is reported that she, while addressing a gathering at Hyderabad on June 30,raised a slogan Telangana ku adoste, adanga narikestam and incited the women to chop down those opposing separate statehood for Telangana. The Commission is of the opinion that such statement amounts to inciting violence and aggravating existing differences between different communities in violation of provisions of the Model Code of Conduct, the Commission has said in its notice to Vijayashanti seeking her response.
The TRS MP has been asked by the Commission to respond to the notice by 11 am on July 4 to explain her position regarding the violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
The Model Code of Conduct came into force June 21 when the Commission had announced by-elections to 10 of the 12 assembly constituencies that fell vacant after the resignation of TRS legislators over Telangana statehood issue. On Thursday, the commission announced by-election to two other assembly constituencies along with the other 10 constituencies on July 27.
