A helicopter carrying Chief Minister Nitish Kumar from Giddhore Jamui to Patna had to make an emergency landing soon after take-off on Saturday morning as the pilot heard some unusual sound coming from the rear of the chopper and its door was found to be open.

Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and JDU Rajya Sabha MP Shivanand Tiwari were with Nitish at the time. The three leaders were returning after paying their condolences to the family of late MP Digvijay Singh.

Sources said the helicopter door was not closed properly while two plastic objects kept at the rear collided with each other, making a sound that caused the pilots to land the chopper,a Bell 430. After an inspection, the pilots took off again at 11.50 am. They said there was no cause for concern and they were only taking the utmost precaution.

After landing at Patna airport,Nitish said there was no reason to worry or panic. As there was khatkhat sound after take-off,the pilot wanted to re-inspect it.
