Doing JUSTICE

Talking about his character,Ronit says,Adaalat revolves around K.D. Pathak,a sophisticated,witty and yet unconventional lawyer. His success rate of acquittals is 100 percent. But K.D. stands not for his client,but for justice. He is a genius and always seems to know everything. If he doesnt know some thing,he makes up for it with his smartness. He manages to turn the entire case around even when all the doors are shot. Unlike other court room dramas that are loud and melodramatic,Adaalat has several tongue-in-cheek moments.

The actor admits that it was difficult for him to portray a lawyer especially after all the dramatic roles that he has played in soap operas. He says,I am just growing with the experience on the sets day by day. On the first day it was difficult,I had to work on my personality as an advocate but as time passed things have fallen into place. In the fourth episode,I have a lovely assistant with me,so the mood changes. My character is growing and Im incorporating new things.

Life seems to have come full circle for Ronit who started off his filmi career with Jaan Tere Naam. Though the film was a hit, he couldnt make it big in the Hindi film industry and turned to television. But his role as a strict disciplinarian in director Vikramaditya Motwanes much-acclaimed movie Udaan has won him plum offers. Apart from starring in an international project,Ronit,who also plays an elderly man Dharamraj Maheyawanshi in Bandini on Imagine,will also be seen in Anurag Kashyaps next film.
