While equity participation by FII has lagged,their debt participation has hit a new high as gross purchases stood at Rs 2,69,559 crore,which is the highest ever. Over the last five years the debt participation of FII has grown more than eight fold from Rs 31,417 crore in 2007 to Rs 2,69,559 crore in 2011.
