CRPF men rough up Assam Cong MLA

A Congress legislator of Assam was roughed up by a group of CRPF personnel at Mariani in Jorhat district on Friday. The police registered an FIR against the CRPF personnel allegedly involved in the assault. Rupjyoti Kurmi,the ruling party legislator,said he was caught by his hair and assaulted by a group of CRPF personnel on duty when he had gone to Mariani to inquire about the reported abduction of two villagers by some miscreants from Nagaland. Supporters of Kurmi,a two-time MLA from Mariani LAC,blocked the road to Nagaland and attacked vehicles bearing Nagaland registration numbers when the CRPF personnel on law and order duty resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation.
