Cong sees BSP-BJP nexus

The Congress on Tuesday accused the BSP of having a tacit understanding with the BJP for the Lok Sabha elections, saying it had fielded such candidates as would only divide the minority votes and help the BJP win in at least 10 constituencies. People should be warned about the intentions of the BSP. It does not have any sympathy towards minorities but is just giving them seats to ensure the victory of the BJP candidate, UPCC spokesperson Akhilesh Pratap Singh said. The allegations follow apprehensions expressed by some Congress leaders in private that a large section of minority votes might shift towards the BSP after its decision to give 25 per cent seats to Muslims. On Monday,AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh had given the example of Varanasi, where the BSP has decided to field controversial MLA Mukhtar Ansari against the BJPs Murli Manohar Joshi. He also mentioned Gorakhpur where the BJP has Yogi Adityanath; Pilibhit, featuring the other Gandhi scion Varun; and Ghaziabad, from where Rajnath Singh is contesting.
