Cong plans Bollywood-like makeover for ‘star’ Capt

The opposition Congress in Punjab has decided to add glamour to its poll campaign by not just shortlisting film celebrities who will come down to the state for campaigning but also creating its own star in the party’s state president Capt Amarinder Singh.

As country’s top advertising agencies vie for large and expensive campaign budgets of political parties, the Punjab Congress has roped in Leo Stride, the firm behind Bollywood star Salman Khan’s hit numbers—Desi Beats in his recent flick Bodyguard and Dhinka Chika in Ready—to give the poll campaign a filmy touch.

The firm will be mixing Punjab’s flavour with Bollywood style to portray Amarinder as state’s own ‘Dabangg’ through ad films, music videos and documentaries. The party believes that Capt’s ‘Dabangg’ image is a huge crowd-puller. Amarinder in his rallies and statements has been openly challenging the ruling Badals by asking the party workers to take them head on. The final call, however, will be taken by the ‘star’ himself.

Leo Stride owner Sumit Dutt, who bagged the ad campaign after a presentation in November in Chandigarh, says it will all depend on how Capt Amarinder wants to involve himself in the ads and videos.
