Soni had not assumed charge of his new department yet like his Cabinet colleague Navjot Singh Sidhu, who too has not taken charge of his new Power Department. While Sidhu is looking at the high command to sort out his issue, Amarinder has placated Soni.
A credit war for bringing Spanish investment in Punjab, broke out between Congress-led Punjab government and Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal — and both took to Twitter claiming credit for the plant that is expected to process 80,000 metric tonnes (MT) of vegetables per annum with special focus on potatoes.
Sidhu made the comments while interacting with media persons at his residence here. He was reacting to the Amarinder statement that Sidhu had not been able to handle his department (urban development) properly and that Congress had put up a below average performance in urban areas because of this.
Harsimrat said she was confident the project would open a new market for potato growers of Doaba with a processing capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes per annum. “It will also give a boost to vegetable cultivation. More than 5,000 farmers will be benefited directly as the company will procure vegetables locally," she said.
Considering that AICC general secretary in-charge Priyanka Gandhi recently took Sidhu along to campaign in Punjab in her chopper, it remains to be seen what action the high command takes against Sidhu for his recent remarks.
Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh spoke with The Indian Express on the elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his “claim” that the Balakot strikes are “his personal success”, and the state of affairs in Punjab.
