French food may be bland but if you lower your flavour standards you'll realise that there are plenty of surprises in the French cuisine, says veejay-turned-actor Purab Kohli. Germ of an idea While I was on the lookout for a holiday to escape away from the city,I thought of planning a short trip to Paris. I went pretty much by myself and was there for six days. Initially,I stayed there with a friend of mine and later rented an apartment. First impression Paris is a beautiful city. I thoroughly enjoyed taking long walks. There is a surprise at every nook and corner of the city. While one road leads to the tall Eiffel Tower that overlooks the city, the another leads to the Basilique Du Sacre Coeur that defines the city. Everything about the city was so memorable. The French exude so much of warmth and are very friendly. Its a very trendy city so are the people and their outlook; it's all simply fascinating. Travelling around I enjoyed visiting various places at Paris. The metro is a life-saver as it is very efficient. But,I loved exploring the nooks-and-crannies of the city so I rented a cycle. I spent time at the Notre Dame and sipped wine on the banks of the Seine river. Also there was this underground jazz club which I visited one night. The experience was wonderful. Bon apétit French food can be a little bland for the Indian palette, but if we lower our flavour standards then there are opportunity for fantastic and subtle surprises. Au revoir As far as shopping is concerned,I am not much into it. So,I just purchased a few key- chains in the shape of the Eiffel Tower for my friends and a couple of books. My entire journey was incredible and I had a truly enriching experience.
