Strikes against Iraq security forces kill 19

BAGHDAD: Three violent strikes against security forces Wednesday killed 19 people across Iraq. Two bombings and a drive-by shooting revealed how vulnerable forces remain. In the bloodiest attack,a car bomb parked outside a restaurant where local police were having breakfast killed 15 people in the southern town of al-Shumali,authorities said.

BEIJING: A dissident writer who spent five years in jail said Wednesday he was tortured beyond peoples imagination. Yang Maodong said charges of illegal business for which he was jailed were false. Human Rights in China said in 2007 Yang was interrogated for 13 days without sleep and hung from the ceiling while police electrocuted his genitals.
