Two other IAS officers of the Gujarat cadre — Arti Kanwar and Vijay Nehra — have also been promoted to the rank of Principal Secretary. Kanwar is posted as Chief Commissioner of State Tax, and Nehra is on central deputation, working as Joint Secretary in the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Central Government.
In the new year, the Gujarat government has issued orders to promote a number of IAS and IPS officers in the state. The General Administration Department and Home Department issued notifications in this regard on Thursday.
Among those promoted include six senior IAS officers of the 1996 batch who have been promoted to the rank of Additional Chief Secretary.
They include Mona Khandhar, T Natarajan, Rajeev Topno, Mamta Verma and Mukesh Kumar. All of them have been posted as Principal Secretary with various departments of the state, like Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Finance, Health & Family Welfare, Industries & Mines, and Education.

The state government has also promoted 14 IPS officers with immediate effect.
Three senior IPS officers who were serving at the rank of Additional Director General of Police, namely Narasimha Komar, Prafulla Kumar Roushan and Rajkumar Pandian, have been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police.
