Winehouse family,friends attend funeral
LONDON: Friends and family said goodbye to Amy Winehouse Tuesday at a private funeral ceremony in London. Producer Mark Ronson and media personality Kelly Osbourne were among mourners at the service at Edgwarebury Cemetery. An autopsy held Monday failed to determine the cause of the singers death.
Slain Afghan boys dad rejected Taliban demand
GERESHK DISTRICT: A grieving Afghan policeman said Taliban insurgents who hanged his eight-year old son had phoned him repeatedly to demand he hand over his official vehicle as ransom. Mohammad Dawood,a policeman in Helmand,said he dismissed their demand and he was later informed his son was hanged.
Four first-timers on Booker 2011 longlist

UK Finance Minister met Murdoch aides 16 times
LONDON: Britains Minister for Finance George Osborne,held 16 separate meetings with executives of Rupert Murdochs companies since the 2010 election,his office disclosed Tuesday. The Chancellor of the Exchequers disclosure is part of efforts to ensure greater transparency.
