CHICAGO: US President Barack Obama Friday kicked off a massive fundraising campaign for his 2012 reelection bid during a visit here. The last two and a half years have obviously been extraordinary, Obama,who was in a light and jovial mood,said at the Democratic National Committee event here,according to a White House statement.

KANDAHAR: A suicide bomber killed Friday the police chief of Kandahar province,after penetrating tight defences at the police headquarters,security officials said. Khan Mohammad Mujahid had survived two previous attacks.
High radiation dose for 28 at plant: Japan
VIENNA: Japan has told the UN atomic agency that 28 nuclear workers have received high radiation doses as they battle to stabilise the stricken Fukushima Daiichi power plant. The 28 have accumulated doses of over 100 millisieverts,the International Atomic Energy Agency said.
Suicide bomber hits Indonesian mosque
JAKARTA: A suicide bomber blew himself up as police were praying Friday,wounding 28 people. The attack,which followed a nearly two-year lull in suicide bombings,occurred in the West Java town of Cirebon. The victims had nails,nuts and bolts in their bodies,hospital sources said.
