John Edwards,who twice sought the Democratic presidential nomination,admitted in a statement on Thursday that he is the father of Frances Quinn Hunter,the two-year-old daughter of his former mistress. It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter,and hopefully one day,when she understands,she will forgive me, Edwards said.
Pak: No new offensive against militants
RAWALPINDI: The Pakistani Army indicated on Thursday that it would not launch any new offensive against extremists in North Waziristan for at least six months,pushing back against calls by the US to root out militants staging attacks along the Afghan border. An Army spokesman described Pakistans position as US Defence Secretary Robert Gates arrived here for an unannounced two-day visit. Gates said that he planned to urge Pakistan to pursue extremist groups along their border.

NRI in US indicted in 31million fraud
Washington: An Indian-American woman executive was on Thursday indicted by a federal grand jury before a US court in Wisconsin on charges of defrauding her company to the tune of a whopping 31 million. US Attorney James Santelle announced that a grand jury sitting in Milwaukee Court returned a six-count indictment charging Sujata Sachdeva 46,who is also known as Sue Sachdeva,with six counts of wire fraud.
Conan OBrien,NBC to part ways
New York: After a last long night of negotiations,the deal to end OBriens short term as host of The Tonight Show was concluded with an agreement that will pay him about 32 million and free him up to return to television in eight months. The deal was expected to be announced formally later on Thursday.
