TEHRAN: Iranian newspapers are reporting that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has urged girls to marry at the age of 16. The President criticised the current average age of marriage of between 24 and 26. The report by Jam-e Jam quoted Ahmadinejad as saying,we should take the age of marriage for boys to 20 and for girls to about 16 and 17.

William-Kate wedding will last 7 yrs: Bishop

LONDON: A prominent bishop has sparked outrage in Britain by describing Prince William and his to-be bride Kate Middleton as shallow celebrities and predicted that their marriage will last just seven years. Pete Broadbent,the Bishop of Willesden,north London,described the Royals on his Facebook page as philanderers. He also denounced the nauseating tosh surrounding the national flimflam of the wedding.

LONDON: Monsoon,a British fashion chain that pioneered ethical shopping,has been accused of using suppliers in India who employ child labour and pay workers below the minimum wages. Revelations thrown up by the firms own investigations acknowledged that children have been discovered working in its supply chain,Britains The Observer newspaper reported.

Flood in China coal mine traps 28 workers

BEIJING: Water flooded a Chinese coal mine Sunday,trapping 28 people,an official said. Forty-one workers were underground at the Batian mine in the southwestern province of Sichuan at the time,said an official. He said 13 workers escaped.

19 Afghan election candidates disqualified

KABUL: The Electoral Complaints Commission charged with rooting out fraud in Afghanistans parliamentary election disqualified 19 candidates Sunday. It was not clear how this would affect the power dynamic in the lower House.
