Sukna: Army gets 6 weeks to finish all processes
New Delhi: The Armed Forces Tribunal has granted a six-week extension to the Army to complete all the processes in the Sukna land scam case,a week after the two-month deadline given by it lapsed. Agreeing with the Armys reasons for not being able to complete the proceedings in the given time,the two-member Bench headed by Justice A K Mathur said,As matter has been litigating before the Honourable SC,therefore,direction given by this Tribunal to dispose of the matter within the timeframe could not be done. Let the respondents Army complete all the process within further six weeks, the Bench said.
Kaziranga has highest tiger density in world
Guwahati: Kaziranga National Park in Assam has the highest density of tigers in the world with 32 tigers per 100 sq km,according to a study. Releasing the study report,Assam Forest and Environment Minister Rockybul Hussain said,KNP has the highest density of tigers compared to any tiger habitats in the world8230;It is a matter of pride for us that when in the rest of the country tiger population has gone down with only 1,411 of the species left,Kaziranga National Park has also recorded highest number of individual tigers as well.

MOGA: An NRI was seriously injured when the police allegedly shot him Thursday,mistaking him to be the main accused in the murder of a village head. Budh Singh Wala,who had arrived at his native Macchike village from Canada about two months ago,was travelling in his vehicle along with his girlfriend when the police,acting on a tip-off about assailants of ex-Daudhar village head Rashpal Singh,chased the vehicle and fired at it.

Maoists kill Orissa forester
Bhubaneswar: Suspected Maoists shot dead a Forester in a wildlife sanctuary of south-western Orissas Nuapada district on Wednesday night. About 30 Maoists came on Wednesday night on a motorcycle and shot dead forester Sangram Swain 54 at Bharuamunda forest checkgate in the Sunabeda wildlife sanctuary, said Nuapada SP B K Rath. Maoists also blew up a culvert near Laxmipur in Koraput district on Wednesday leading to disruption of vehicular traffic.
Fake I-T officials loot Rs 2 crore
Kolkata: Three men,posing as Income Tax officials,looted Rs 2 crore from the house of a trader at Beleghata in north Kolkata on Thursday. Tarachand Daptari and his three daughters were not at home when the three men duped his wife,Manju. Daptari had sold his property in Phoolbagan on April 11 at Rs 2 crore and kept the money at home. They took cash worth Rs 2 crore and gave a fake seizure list stating that Rs 90 lakh was seized from their residence, said an official. A probe is on.
HC dismisses plea against Haasan
CHENNAI: The Madras HC has dismissed a petition by S Senthilkumar,seeking a directive to police to register a case against actor Kamal Haasan. Senthilkumar claimed he had written a story and sent it to Hassan,who made it into the movie Dasavatharam without his knowledge,following which he filed a case against him. On September 2,2007,miscreants came and warned him of dire consequences if he did not withdraw the case,he alleged. ENS amp; PTI
