Teenagers planning to visit PoK detained

Srinagar: A group of eight teenagers,reportedly planning to cross over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir PoK for arms training,were taken into custody by the police here on Thursday,official sources said.

The boys,aged between 17-18 years and hailing from south Kashmir8217;s Shopian district,were travelling to Kupwara in north Kashmir. They were intercepted by the police at Parimpora bypass. During preliminary questioning,the boys revealed their plan to cross the LoC for receiving arms training.

Leopard found dead near Corbett

Nainital: In sixth such incident in the past two months,a leopard was found dead in the fields of a village adjoining the Corbett National Park,forest officials on Thursday said. The leopards body was found on Wednesday in Patkot village near the park in Kota range of Ramnagar Forest Division. Ruling out poaching,Forest officials said the external parts of its body were intact and the leopard was apparently killed in a fight with another animal.

Six-year-old raped,murdered

Dehradun: A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by a labourer in Udhamsingh Nagar district,triggering protests,the police said on Thursday. Shaukat Ali has been arrested in connection with the case,they said. The girl had gone to a shop in Kashipur area on Saturday evening and did not return. During interrogation,Ali revealed that he took the girl to a nearby jungle and raped her. Later,he killed the girl and dumped her body near Dhela river.

Four-year-old falls into borewell

Bhilwara Rajasthan: A four-year-old boy on Thursday fell into a 250-ft deep borewell while playing near it at Piploon village in Jahazpur district,the police said,adding that rescue operation is on. The boy,identified as Pankaj,is stuck about 20-22 feet down in the borewell. Medical team and senior police and administration officials have rushed to the spot, a police official said.
