Cash seizure: Sai Babas nephew to be questioned
HYDERABAD: Anantapur District Police on Wednesday summoned Sathya Sai Baba8217;s nephew R J Ratnakar and Sathya Sai Central Trust member V Srinivasan to give explanations in connection with the seizure of Rs 35.5 lakh from a car allegedly belonging to the Trust. Notices were issued to Ratnakar and Srinivasan asking them to appear before the Investigating Officer within the next three days.The duo have been requested to appear before the police either on Thursday or latest by Saturday evening, Anantapur SP Shahnawaz Qasim said.
Air Chief to release coffee table book
NEW DELHI: Air Chief Marshal PV Naik will release a coffee table book on the Indian Air Force on Thursday that chronicles the humanitarian assistance that has been rendered by the IAF since its inception in 1933. The unique book,titled So that others may live,contains pages of historic photographs and archival documents that have been dug up from records across the country.
Constable shot,undertrial escapes
LUCKNOW: An undertrial escaped after his associates shot dead a police constable in Gorakhpurs Khorabar area on Wednesday afternoon. Constable Ashok Kumar Gaur,45,had brought Manoj Ojha to the court from Gorakhpur jail. The police said,incident occurred when Gaur was taking Ojha back to the jail after appearing before the court. They added the Police Contol Room had recieved a call informing them of the death of the constable.
Women take out rally against eve-teasing
JAIPUR: In the wake of the molestation of a girl in Rajasthan University campus on Monday. teachers and representatives from various women organisations on Wednesday took out a rally and demanded initiatives to ensure safe atmosphere for girls. The rally began from the university law college and after covering various departments it ended at the Vice Chancellors secretariat where we submitted our representation to an official, Rajasthan University Womens Association President,Malti Gupta,said.
Harassed girl kills grain merchant
BETUL MP: A grain merchant was killed in Dabal village here by a young girl,by hitting his head with a heavy stone,after being allegedly fed up of harassment,police said on Wednesday. The incident came to light on Sunday evening when the blood-soaked body of the merchant was found from the village.The accused,identified as Bhojraj Sahoo was killed using a heavy stone by the victim Renuka Deshmukh. Police said that three months ago Renuka Deshmukh had filed a complaint with the police saying that Bhojraj Sahoo was harassing her.
