Air India pilots say wont fly to unsafe Kabul
MUMBAI: A day after the DGCA said it would de-roster the pilots who had flown to Goa in unsafe conditions,a section of Air India pilots announced on Wednesday that they would no longer fly to Kabul due to unsafe flying conditions there. Air India is the only airline that flies to Kabul, operating six flights a week from Delhi. If the DGCA is going to pull up pilots for flying in unsafe conditions,then why should we put lives of our pilots and passengers at risk. The fact is that Kabul is a substandard airfield, said Captain Rishab Kapur,general secretary of the Indian Commercial Pilots Association.
Probe into charges by Kuber owners brother
RAJKOT: Following an attempted suicide by Narshi Masani,the brother of the owner of Kuber,a probe has been ordered into alleged police harassment. Amreli SP H R Muliyana will investigate Narshis allegations of harassment by Porbandar ASP Makrand Chauhan. Narshi has alleged that Chauhan has been harassing him saying he has links with terrorists. Narshi came under the scanner after two anonymous letters alleged that his fortunes rose after the 26/11 attacks. On Wednesday,the Porbandar Police continued their inquiry against the Masanis based on the letters.
Rajasthan minister on fast-unto-death
JAIPUR: Rajasthan minister Golma Devi and her MP husband K L Meena are on a fast-unto-death in Jaipur protesting against corruption and alleged apathy of her own government towards tribal rights and other issues. Devi,Minister of State for Khadi and Village Industries,began a sit-in protest last week in Jaipurs Civil Lines area,a km from the Governor and Chief Ministers residences,and has now decided to go on a hunger strike. She has also submitted her resignation which is yet to be accepted.
HC clears way for Chavan election
MUMBAI: Clearing the deck for Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to contest Legislative Council LC elections,the Bombay High Court on Wednesday allowed the Election Commission to hold them. To help Chavan become a member of the House,Congress leader Sanjay Dutt had resigned from the LC on March 11. The EC had to seek courts permission as former Shiv Sena MLC Anil Parab challenged the June 2010 LC elections saying four MNS MLAs were allowed to vote despite being under suspension. Dutt was one of the winning candidates in that poll.
Charges framed against 3 Chinese
LUCKNOW: The Bahraich Chief Judicial Magistrate on Wednesday framed charges against three Chinese arrested for entering into India illegally and taking photographs of prohibited areas. The Charges were framed under the Foreigners Act and Passport Act. The court has fixed April 20 for next date of hearing. They were brought to Bahraich court from the Lucknow District Jail where they are lodged.
IAF flags off women expedition to Everest
NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force on Wednesday flagged off a women expedition to Mount Everest. It is the first time in the history of IAF that women in Blue have embarked on an expedition to scale the highest peak, said an IAF statement. The idea of scaling the Everest was conceived in early 2009. The team underwent a rigorous training schedule,including Basic Mountaineering Course and Winter Training Camps.
