Dy Speakers daughter injured in Manipur blast

IMPHAL: Thangkhoi Haokip (18),the daughter of Manipur Deputy Speaker T T Haokip,was injured when militants hurled a grenade here on Friday. The incident occurred at the Deputy Speakers residence,official sources said. An unidentified militant was also killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles personnel of 28th Battalion at Waithou Chiru in Thoubal district in the early hours.

Lalu with guards at zoo,probe ordered

PATNA: After RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav visited the zoo here with armed security personnel,the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park authorities have ordered a probe into the incident. The RJD chief had gone to the zoo on Wednesday. Though Lalu,who has Z plus security,left most of his security guards outside,two guards accompanied him inside the zoo. The guards were carrying arms which is against rules of the zoo.

Two pilgrims die on way to Vaishnodevi

JAMMU: Two pilgrims visiting the Vaishnodevi shrine on Friday died of heart attack in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Arun Shingri (28) of Kota in Rajasthan collapsed near the gate of the shrine at Bhawan,60 km from here. He was shifted to hospital,where doctors declared him dead. Raj Lata (34) of Delhi died due to heart attack at Adh Kuwari,en route to the cave shrine. The bodies have been handed over to their families.

SC asks CBI to probe encounter

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday directed a CBI probe into alleged killing in an encounter of suspected gangster Dara Singh by the Rajasthan Police. A Bench of Justices Markandeya Katju and A K Patnaik handed over the probe to the CBI after Sushila Devi,Singhs widow,accused the Special Police Operations Group of Rajasthan of abducting her husband and killing him.
