Bangalore: Controversial self-styled godman Nityananda and four of his associates have been accused of rape and unnatural sex in a chargesheet filed by CID in a court near here.

The 430-page chargesheet filed before Ramanagara Chief Judicial Magistrate on November 27 has named Nityananda,Nitya Bhaktananda,Nithya Sachidananda,Nithya Sachidananda and Maa Sachidananda alias Ragini on the basis of two FIRs filed against them,a CID statement said on Monday. Nityanandahad had absconded after a purported video footage of him in a compromising position with an actress was aired on local Tamil channels. He was arrested in Himachal Pradesh on April 21.

Teacher gets life term for rape,murder

Berhampur Orissa: A court here on Monday sentenced a teacher of an upper primary school to rigorous life imprisonment for raping and murdering a 12-year-old student in Ganjam district two years ago. District and Sessions Judge M K Panda also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. on 58-year-old Santha Charan Patnaik of Nimina village. Patnaik was arrested on September 30,2008 after the girl8217;s body was found from a lavatory.

Ayodhya: Hearing on final decree on Dec 10

Lucknow: The preliminary decree on the Allahabad High Court verdict on Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits has been prepared and the parties have been asked to file their objections or suggestions within six working days from Monday,an official said. A notification in this regard was issued by the Joint Registrar Listing,the official said,adding the hearing to finalise the decree will take place on December 10 before a special three-judge Bench.

Army repatriates Pakistani youth

Jammu: Army officials on Monday repatriated a Pakistani youth who had inadvertently crossed over to India through the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir8217;s Poonch district. Nineteen-year-old Faisal Mehboob was handed over to the Pakistan Army in a humanitarian gesture by the Army at Mendhar-Tattapani crossing point along the LoC in Poonch. The Army also gave gifts for Mehboob and his family.

Farmers block ministers convoy

Nashik: Hundreds of farmers blocked the convoy of Maharashtra8217;s Agriculture Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil on the Mumbai-Agra NH on Monday demanding compensation following heavy damage to their crops caused by the recent untimely rains. The blockade at Pimpalgaon Baswant lasted about 15 minutes as the minister met the farmers8217; representatives and promised to look into their demands. Besides demanding Rs 50,000 per hectare,farmers have also sought loan waiver and facility of crop-insurance.

Fodder scam: Court convicts 52 accused

Ranchi: A special CBI court on Monday convicted 52 fodder scam accused,including two former regional directors,for fraudulently withdrawing about Rs 19.2 crore from a treasury in the 1990s. The court of A H Ansari awarded eight of the convicts,all suppliers of the Animal Husbandry Department AHD,three years imprisonment and fine upto Rs 10 lakh. The judge fixed Tuesday to pronounce the quantum of sentence for the rest 44,including the department8217;s ex-regional directors Dr Junul Bhengraj,Dr K N Jha and 25 others.
