Mumbai: A special court on Monday directed Rema Khan,wife of Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan who has been arrested in money laundering and tax evasion cases,to appear before it on July 20. The court has also directed her to appear before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning on July 12.

SC refuses to cancel Sanjay Dutts bail

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed Bollywood producer Shakeel Nooranis plea seeking cancellation of Sanjay Dutts bail in the 1993 Mumbai blast case. Noorani,who is involved in a financial dispute with the actor,had approached the court,claiming he was being threatened by underworld at Dutts behest. Dismissing his plea,the SC said,You cannot use this court to solve your financial disputes in a criminal case. You file an FIR.

AIADMK man to head Arasu Cable TV

Chennai: Moving swiftly to execute her plans to take on the Marans,who own the Sun Group,Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday made a political appointment to the board of the government-run Arasu Cable TV Corporation. A GO issued by the Information Technology department said Udumalai K Radhakrishnan from Tiruppur has been appointed chairman of satellite television distribution company,replacing IT secretary Santhosh Babu who was made the chairman only on Sunday.

Banned Manipuri outfit men held

NEW DELHI: The police on Monday arrested Sunil Meitei 35,commander of banned Manipuri outfit Kangleipak Communist Party,and his aide Robindro 43 for allegedly running an illegal narco-terrorism syndicate. The police said they recovered a laptop,four mobile phones,a number of SIM cards,a Reliance internet broadband connection and threat emails. While Meitei was arrested from Bangalore,his aide was arrested from Manipur.

4 Orissa cops suspended

Bhubaneswar: THE Orissa government on Monday suspended four personnel of the Orissa State Armed Police after several of them lathicharged the sevayats priests of Jagannath temple in Puri,injuring 10 of them. The incident happened on Monday when some policemen reportedly wanted to go atop the chariot of Lord Jagannath without taking their shoes off.

US firm fined for Jaitley website

New Delhi: US-based Portfolio Brains LLC was on Monday asked by the Delhi High Court to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh to BJP leader Arun Jaitley for causing hardship,harassment and mental torture to the Rajya Sabha MP by running a website http://www.arunjaitley.com. The court asked the firm to transfer the domain name immediately to Jaitley.

Protesting jailors hospitalised

Bhubaneswar: Several of the 2000-odd wardens of 86 jails across Orissa were hospitalised on Monday,a day after they started their indefinite hunger strike demanding pay parity with police constables and special allowance.

Malayalam film director dead

Thiruvananthapuram: Noted writer and film director T Ravindran alias Chintha Ravi died on Monday in a private hospital in Thrissur. He was 65. Ravindran had directed three films,including award winning Ore Thuval Pakshikal. His documentary on late film director Aravindan had bagged him a national award.
