13 dead as steel coils fall on autorickshaw
NAGPUR: Thirteen persons were killed and five injured when steel coils in a container truck fell on an autorickshaw after the container overturned about 14 km from here Wednesday night. The container had loaded the coils from Ispat Groups steel factory from Kalmeshwar and was headed for Nagpur when it overturned. The coils fell on the autorickshaw coming from opposite direction,trapping the passengers,Nagpur rural police control said.
Chandraswami can travel abroad: Court
NEW DELHI: A Patiala House court on Wednesday allowed godman Chandraswami,accused of violating the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act FERA,to travel abroad for six months to visit his disciples. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal rejected the opposition by Enforcement Directorate which said Chandraswami should not be allowed to go abroad for such a long duration.
Narco test to find tigresss killers
BHOPAL: A narco test has been ordered to find the alleged killers of a tigress in Bandhavgarh reserve whose mysterious death had sparked off a frenzy of speculation and finger-pointing. Known as Jhurjhura tigress,the feline was found dead in the reserve on May 19 last year within hours after it charged a tourist vehicle. Forest Minister Sartaj Singh said,The police wanted to close the chapter but I wanted all options to be explored.
HC dismisses PIL against Gehlot
Jaipur: The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking a probe into allegations that CM Ashok Gehlot gave undue favours to some private firms,saying that there were no grounds for investigation. The court observed,All corporate houses are today close to one or the other politician as also senior advocates but that does not means it proves any corrupt practice.
Woman with 20 kg drugs held in Andhra
Hyderabad: The Prohibition and Excise Department on Wednesday arrested a woman and seized 20 kg of drugs worth Rs 10 lakh from her. B Punyavathi was arrested while her husband B Ramachandraiah and son Suresh Goud are absconding. Special teams have been formed to nab the absconders.
HC adjourns Nirmal Yadav graft case
Chandigarh: The High Court on Wednesday adjourned to May 20 the hearing of former judge Nirmal Yadavs petition in connection with the 2008 cash-at judges-door case. Yadav hadsought quashing of summons.
