Cross-examination in Satyam case on July 22

Hyderabad: The Economic Offences Court will conduct cross-examination in one of the cases,filed by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office SFIO against B Ramalinga Raju and other former directors of controversy-mired Satyam Computers,on July 22. The SFIO has alleged that the company paid professional charges to Krishna G Palepu,a former director,without obtaining the requisite permission from the government.

Raja to meet telcos to discuss concerns

New Delhi: Telecom Minister A Raja has called for a meeting with mobile operators to discuss issues concerning the industry on July 7. Official sources said the minister wants to discuss the recent issues in the telecom sector. Industry sources said the issue of TRAIs 2G proposals are bound to be the highlight of the meeting in view of the conflicting views of the operators on recommendations which suggested that operators holding radiowaves over 6.2 Mhz should pay charges at rates linked to 3G prices.

201 complaints to BSE against 158 cos in June

Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange received 201 complaints from investors against 158 listed entities in June. The exchange also resolved 206 complaints involving 135 listed companies in the same period,an official release issued here said on Friday. A majority of the complaints received relate to non-receipt of equity shares and corporate benefits or entitlements,it added.

Parkway zooms on Fortis counterbid

New Delhi: A day after Indias Fortis Healthcare declared its counter-bid to acquire remainder shares of Parkway Holdings,Asias largest hospital operator,the scrip of the Singapore firm opened at S3.87,gaining 8.4 since the previous close in the stock exchange. The hospital stock was among the highest gainers on the exchange.

Media ad spend rises in Asia-Pacific: Nielsen

Mumbai: Driven by strong economic performances and rapidly improving consumer confidence levels in the first quarter of 2010,main media television,newspaper amp; magazine advertising activities in India surged by 32,the highest growth among the 12 Asia-Pacific markets covered in The Nielsen Companys survey on media spends. Overall,across the 12 markets,media spends grew by 18.

Pranab to meet state FMs on GST on July 21

New Delhi: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee is likely to meet his state counterparts on July 21 to discuss constitutional amendments needed to roll out the proposed GST and the compensation package for the states for the possible loss of their revenue due to this new indirect tax regime. The FM will meet the state finance ministers to discuss compensation packages and constitutional amendment required to implement the goods and services tax, a finance ministry official said.
