Mamata allies locked in contest
KOLKATA:
The Congress will field candidates against alliance partner SUCI in South 24-Parganas. Lead partner Trinamool Congress had given Joynagar and Kultali to the SUCI but the Congress will field former MP Manoranjan Haldar in the former seat and Sujit Patwari in the latter. The SUCI,too,will contest 31 seats against the Congress.

Another Trinamool candidate attacked
Midnapore (West Bengal):
The Trinamool Congress candidate from Ghatal constituency in West Bengal,Shankar Dolui,was assaulted on Wednesday,allegedly by CPM men. Dolui was treated in Ghatal Hospital. CPM anchal pradhan Mritunjay Chakraborty was detained following a complaint by the Trinamool. The attack follows the murder of a Trinamool leader in Burdwan.

Will take support if it comes: Gogoi
Guwahati:
Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said the Congress’s relations with the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF),supporting the government,will continue. But he was evasive about the role of the AIUDF in the next government,should the Congress head it. “Whether anyone supports us is up to them. Shall I not take their support if I get it?” he said.

Mill workers to boycott election
Karaikal (Tamil Nadu):
Around 420 workers of the loss-making Jayaprakash Narayan Cooperative Spinning Mills Ltd have decided to boycott the Tamil Nadu polls,fed up with the “indifferent” attitude of successive governments.
