Mamata allies locked in contestKOLKATA: The Congress will field candidates against alliance partner SUCI in South 24-Parganas. Lead partner Trinamool Congress had given Joynagar and Kultali to the SUCI but the Congress will field former MP Manoranjan Haldar in the former seat and Sujit Patwari in the latter. The SUCI,too,will contest 31 seats against the Congress. Another Trinamool candidate attackedMidnapore (West Bengal): The Trinamool Congress candidate from Ghatal constituency in West Bengal,Shankar Dolui,was assaulted on Wednesday,allegedly by CPM men. Dolui was treated in Ghatal Hospital. CPM anchal pradhan Mritunjay Chakraborty was detained following a complaint by the Trinamool. The attack follows the murder of a Trinamool leader in Burdwan.
