Hiraan Chatterjee marries again, first wife Anindita calls it ‘illegal’; 2nd wife Ritika Giri says, ‘Go to cops’

The matter escalated when Anindita filed a complaint at a police station against both Hiraan and Ritika. While Ritika has claimed that a divorce notice had been sent to Anindita, the latter has strongly denied the assertion, calling it false.

Speaking to The Indian Express Bangla, Anindita said, “I am ashamed to say this before my daughter and discuss whether he was involved with someone else or lived with us in our house.” She also claimed that Hiraan had not been living with them consistently. “The security in our flat is so tight. I can easily prove how much or how long he stayed with us,” she added, while accusing Ritika of trying to gain sympathy through her statements.

Anindita was accompanied to the police station by Nyasa, her daughter with Hiraan. The 19-year-old later shared a video expressing support for her mother and hinted at a strained relationship with her father. “As far as I can remember, we both have been each other’s confidants since the beginning. You have played every role in life with incredible strength, love and dignity. You are my mother, my father, my guide and my biggest support… You are my hero, mother,” she said. In another emotional statement, Nyasa claimed she found out about her father’s wedding through social media while her mother was in tears.

Hiraan, meanwhile, is yet to issue a formal statement responding to Anindita’s allegations or addressing the legal questions around his second marriage.

Ritika Giri’s Instagram Story

Amid the uproar, Ritika took to Instagram Stories with a detailed note in Bengali, saying she was in no condition to speak to the media as she was “mentally unstable” and “physically unwell” following an operation. She also claimed she and Hiraan have been married for five years, and that the recent ceremony in Benaras was conducted only for “mental satisfaction”. In her statement, she alleged that a divorce legal notice had been sent to Anindita, disputed claims about timelines and living arrangements, and insisted the marriage rituals were performed in a sacred manner in Banaras, “with fire as a witness,” without any show-off. Ending her note, Ritika maintained that if anyone considers the marriage illegal, they should “take legal steps,” adding she had nothing further to say on the matter.

Humble Request to the Media “A humble request to all news media: I cannot give any kind of interview at this moment. I am currently mentally very unstable and physically very unwell. Recently, I underwent an operation, and the doctor has instructed me to remain on complete bed rest.

I have heard the statements made by the first wife, Anindita, and I feel it is very necessary to clarify a few matters:

Incorrect Age: Incorrect information has been provided regarding my age.

Legal Notice: A legal notice for divorce has been sent to her.

Relationship History: We got married a long time ago. We have been together for the past 5 years, and Anindita knew about all of this. All my accounts were public; nothing was hidden. So where was she for so many years, and why didn’t she raise any questions then?

Living Situation: She stated that we recently lived together for roughly 6 months. This is entirely false. We never lived together for 6 months. Hiraan was with his own daughter from November 9, 2024, to February 25, only for some personal work, during which his daughter’s birthday also occurred.

Regarding the Marriage Rituals This marriage took place for mental satisfaction, with Agni (Fire) as a witness. It was solemnized in a holy place like Banaras, in front of Mother Ganga, following sacred rituals.

This was not a luxury wedding, nor was there any show-off. This marriage happened solely with devotion of the heart, faith, and purity. The veil/chunri that was draped on me was received as a blessing from Kashi Vishwanath Dham. Furthermore, the materials for the entire ritual were obtained from Shri Dham Vrindavan and Maa Barnasa’s temple—including the ‘Solah Shringar’ (16 adornments) and the Mother’s vermilion (sindoor).

If this is considered illegal, then I have only one thing to say—ask her to take legal steps. I have nothing more to say on this matter.
