Bengal murder: cop axed,8 held

kolkata: A day after Trinamool Congress leader Kabir Quazi was murdered,allegedly by CPM-backed coal mafia don Dinabandhu Barui and his men,the West Bengal police suspended Jamuria assistant SI Asit Mondal and made eight arrests. Barui is absconding. Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee walked from Jamuria to the murder spot and led a protest rally to Hijalgara,Quazis village. She met his family and promised his son a railway job.

No pact with CPM in Kerala,says BJP

Kozhikode: BJP leader Sushma Swaraj dismissed the Congress charge that her partys reason for not fielding a candidate against Kerala CM V S Achuthanandan is part of a secret pact with the CPM. Swaraj said,The Janata DalU is our coalition partner and we have given it the seat.
