Driver kills wife for not bearing child, probe on

A PRIVATE DRIVER working with a shopping mall in the city allegedly murdered his wife on Friday night for not bearing a child.

Police have identified the deceased woman as Priyanka Akash Dodke (27), a resident of Gurudatta Colony, Bhekrai Nagar, Phursungi.

Her brother Sagar Ramdas Adagale (35) of Nangaon in Daund, lodged the FIR at the Fursungi police station.

Police have arrested her husband Akash Vishnu Dodke (35) under Section 103 (1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Assistant police inspector Nanasaheb Jadhav said, “Accused Akash worked as a driver at a mall in the city. He got married to Priyanka in 2018. A probe revealed that he doubted her character and was also upset because she was not bearing a child. It led to frequent quarrels between the couple.”
