Anti-sub corvette runs aground on way to sea trial

The ship is scheduled to be handed over to the Navy by this year-end.

KOLKATA: An anti-submarine corvette made by GRSE for the Indian Navy ran aground while going for a sea trial at Geonkhali in West Bengals East Midnapore district. Describing it as a minor incident,Rear Admiral retd A K Verma,CMD of Garden Reach Shipbuilders amp; Engineers Limited GRSE,told PTI,The river channel is narrow and the ship had a little drift while turning.

The ship is most likely to come out during high tide post midnight, he said.

The ship is scheduled to be handed over to the Navy by this year-end. PTI

Hate speeches: SC asks NGO to produce complaints

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court Friday asked the petitioner NGO to adduce complaints it had filed against political leaders for delivering hate speeches. A Bench led by Justice B S Chauhan sought the counsel for Pravasi Bhalai Sangthan to satisfy the court that there was laxity on the part of authorities in taking appropriate actions against guilty leaders although it had lodged complaints.

The court was of the opinion that its orders will be required only if the legal regime was found lacking to prosecute them for stoking hatred or communal hatred through such speeches. It gave the NGO three weeks to produce such complaints. ENS
