Mark over TMC sign,CPM sees red
CPM agents at booth no 62 of Mahesh in Serampore Assembly constituency protested when they discovered that a red mark had been put above the symbol of the Trinamool Congress which made it distinct from all other symbols. The CPM alleged that it would give TMC candidate Sudipto Roy an edge over others. The TMC countered by saying that its the handiwork of the CPM. Polling had to be suspended in the booth.
Assault on candidate,CPM complains to EC
CPM candidate Syed Abu Kader,contesting from Ketugram in Burdwan,had to be hospitalised on Tuesday after he was allegedly beaten up by Trinamool supporters outside a polling station at Ratanpur village. The moment he came out of the booth at 8:30 am,local TMC members attacked him and a zonal committee member of our party. Both had to be hospitalised, alleged CPM leader Amal Halder. The party has complained to the election authorities.
Central forces to stay beyond polls
Central security forces will remain in Bengal even after the completion of the polls on May 13,the Election Commission said. The EC will review the situation before withdrawing the forces, Deputy Election Commissioner Vinod Zutshi said. Asked how long they would remain,he said,Quite a number of days. About raids for unaccounted cash,he said that so far EC squads have seized Rs 1.77 crore and Income Tax authorities Rs 6.58 crore a total of Rs 8.35 crore.
