PUNE, Feb 7: A 45-year-old watchman of a construction unit at Deccan Gymkhana, Lingappa Siddappa Hal, was allegedly smashed to death with stone by his co-employees early this morning.

The incident took place between 3.30 and 4 am below the Gadgil bridge where a construction work is in progress. Lingappa, who worked as a watchman of a godown, was sleeping outside his house at Pulachi wadi where he was found murdered.

While four persons were allegedly involved in the murder, only one of them was identified. The murder was a fallout of a scuffle between Lingappa and the accused, police said. . All the four are yet to be traced.

In another incident, a watchman of the CQASV depot in Dehu Road Hanumanth Vitthal Jadhav (40) was allegedly beaten to death by an army jawan on Thursday night. The jawan identified as Pratap was yet to be traced. According to a complaint filed with the Dehu Road police, Hanumanth Jadhav and Pratap were involved in a fight around midnight. Pratap severely beat Hanumanth and fled.
