MUMBAI, May 22: Vikrant Sane managed a double but Megha Vakharia denied Isha Lakhani from achieving a similar feat in the Adidas Zonal Junior Tennis Circuit finals at Practennis, Andheri today.

Sane scored easy wins over Gavryl Fernandes 6-3, 6-2 and Krishne Tanna 6-2, 6-4 in the under-16 and under-14 finals respectively.

Megha fought for a 6-4, 6-7 5-7, 6-2 verdict over the Isha in the under-16, who had won a tough 6-7 1-7, 6-1, 6-1 battle over Deepa Chakravarty of Ahmedabad.

Mohanty advances

Chandrasekhar Mohanty advanced to the second round of the ITF Satellite tennis qualifying rounds at the G A Ranade Tennis Centre today. He beat Prashant Sawant 6-0, 6-0.

Gavaskar XI win

A superb all-round performance by man of the match Arif Sunsara and an unbeaten half century by opener Nitin Swarankar helped Sunil Gavaskar XI beat Gundappa Vishwanath XI by six wickets to win the 4th Elf-Vengsarkar Cup cricket tournament for Under-14 at Elf-Vengsarkar ground, Oval, today.Set to score 155 in 45 overs, Gavaskar XI were struggling at 68 for four. But the fifth wicket pair, Swarankar and Sunsara, added 88 runs for the unfinished fifth wicket to see them through.

IIT triumph

Easy for IPCL
