
MUMBAI, Sept 4: A high level committee of the state government will meet later next week to study the crucial financial implications of the Rs 76-crore Vikrant museum. The committee will also consider the Indian Navy8217;s request for Rs 5 crore to immediately drydock the Vikrant and refurbish its decaying hull.
The agenda for this meeting will be set by the cabinet sub-committee chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Joshi on Monday morning.

, Trade and Commerce Minister Pramod Navalkar denied that a resource crunch had hampered the state government8217;s commitment to the project. 8220;We have committed ourselves to the project and we will raise the money for it,8221; he said.
According to S Nalinakshan, Principal Secretary, Urban Development, the meeting of the various agencies would set the project in motion.
Besides Nalinakshan, who heads the state government8217;s special committee on Vikrant, the meeting will include senior naval officials and Mumbai Port Trust MbPT DeputyChairman Rajiv Sinha.
8220;The EIA report will be submitted in around six months and the project will take around a year to be completed,8221; Nalinakshan said.
Tenders will be called for the consultancy which consists of two parts. The first part includes preparing the EIA report of the Jamshedji Bunder site and the second part will plan the actual grouting of the ship.
The Vikrant fast track project was put on hold by the state government for over a month and a half after two sites for berthing the ship had been cleared by the Mumbai Port Trust.
On July 14, the special committee of the MbPT cleared the Jamshedji Bunder and Oyster Rock sites for the Vikrant. The sites were cleared on the condition that the state government would undertake the Environment Impact Assessment EIA for the two sites.
