Loan for VMC
The Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank has accepted in-principle to give a loan of Rs 21.50 crore to the Vadodara Municipal Corporation at the rate of 14 per cent. The assurance was given during a meeting of Bank officers with Municipal Commissioner G R Aloria and Mayor Bharati Vyas in Rajkot on Wednesday. Aloria said they would forward the list of civic works which they intend to carry out. The civic body requires Rs 1.25 crore to set up three sewage treatment plants, lay model roads and develop ring roads.

Variety show
A variety show, including shadow play and an interactive session, Mynd Storm, The Psychic Mind Show,8217; will be organised by Hotel Welcomgroup on Saturday. Pradip Rao, Harshad Contractor and T K Vadivelu, are among the performers.

World post day
The Postal department of the city has planned a number of functions on Friday, as part of World Post day. Besides a meeting of the postal body, a customers8217; meet, and a quiz programme on philately will be organised during the week-long celebrations.

Contest winners
Children of Nature Club of Baroda High School ONGC, Don Bosco High School, Navrachna High School, Sabri Vidyalaya and Zenith High School, won specials awards for all-round participation in the wildlife events, organised by World Wide Fund for Nature-India WWF. While Navrachana school bagged the first prize in quiz, Don Bosco in painting, the Botany department of M S University won the antakshari,8217; a WWF release said. The WWF during its Wildlife Week celebrations, which included a rally, an exhibition, antakshri, quiz contest, were inaugurated by A P Mishra, principal chief conservator of forest department.

Best NGO award
The Diabetes Association of Baroda, active in the city for the past 20 years, has been adjudged The Best Non-government Organisation8217;. An association press note said on Monday that association managing trustee Dr Gumashta and secretary K K Vora were presented a special award at a function held here recently.

Exhibition
A two-day annual exhibition-cum-sale of the India International Trade Centre began at the Aditi Art Gallery from Thursday. The exhibition is being organised as a part of the course curriculum and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their talent in fashion designing.
