Union panel8217;s two-day visit to city begins
Vadodara: A standing Committee of the Union Petroleum and Chemicals Ministry, comprising 13 MPs and four officers, will begin their two-day visit of Vadodara from Tuesday. The members will hold talks with officers of the Gujarat Refinery. On Wednesday, they will visit IPCL complex and also hold talks with officers of the Petrofils Co-operative Limited.

Stir threat
Members of the Central Gujarat Petrol and Diesel Dealers8217; Association have threatened a strike on Thursday to press for their demands of increasing the dealers8217; commission in the sale of petrol and diesel.

Pool to reopen
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation8217;s Sardarbaug Swimming Pool will re-open from Tuesday after being closed for repairs.

Power theft
The Gujarat Electricity Board has earned Rs 1.33 crore as fine from power pilferers between September 14 and 20. Of the 5,422 connections checked in different parts of the state, irregularities were detected in 661 cases, according to a statement.

Symposium
The Bharuch District Management Association is organising a symposium on The Concept of Enterprise Resource Planning8217; at the GNFC corporate auditorium in Narmadanangar on Tuesday.

No assembly
The Vadodara district administration has banned assembly of four or more people and holding of public functions in rural segment of the district with immediate effect. The ban, to ensure fair and smooth functioning of the SSC and HSC trial examinations, will remain effective upto October 19. Carrying of arms has also been banned in rural areas till October 23.

Medical camps
Noted Ayurved doctor Kiran Joshi will hold two free medical camps at Ami Clinic, Dandia Bazaar, on October 9 and 13. Joshi said skin diseases would be treated at the first camp, while children below five years of age would be examined in the second camp, being organised with support from Ethichem Ayurvedic Research Laboratory. C D leads rally
Surat: The Congress on Monday took out a rally in Valsad demanding protection for minorities, alleging that ever since the BJP had came to power in Gujarat, they had been targeted selectively and harassed by Hindu organisations like the Bajrang Dal and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Led by GPCC president C D Patel, a Congress team earlier visited Atul, where a Christian prayer hall has become a bone of contention between Hindu organisations and Christians.
