Malaria medicines for district
The Vadodara District Panchayat has received malaria medicines worth nearly Rs 1.20 crore for the four high-risk tribal talukas of the district under a World Bank programme. Panchayat Health Officer V T Javli said the medicine Synthetic Pyrothride would be sprinkled in water-logged areas in two phases during the year to check mosquito-breeding.

Final touches were also given to an anti-malaria campaign to be taken up from June 1 to June 7 at a Malaria Society meeting on Tuesday.

Lt-general’s visit
Lieutenant General A S Khanna, AVSM, VrC, Chief of Staff, Headquarters Southern Command Pune, accompanied by his wife Meera Khanna, will visit the EME School here on Wednesday. The visiting General will be received and taken around the school by Major General M C Sebastin, Commandant EME School, while Meera Khanna will witness the family welfare activities of the institution.

Train service
Services of train number 452 up Dabhoi-Miyagam Choranda have been extended till November 15. The number of halts and the timings will, however, remain unchanged.

ONGC wins
The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation has bagged the National Management Games 1998 championship, organised by the All-India Management Association in New Delhi recently. More than 100 teams representing organisations including IOC, BPCL, Tata Steel among others took part. The ONGC team was represented by N S Rao, Alok Joshi, Gautam Mandol and Anupam Agrawal, executives of the western region.

Traffic directive
Residents have been asked drive their vehicles slowly on the road between Fatehgunj Circle and Chhani Octroi Post till May 22 as the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is laying cables on the central dividers.

Mass marriage
A mass marriage ceremony will be held in Koyali by the Sardar Patel Samaj on Thursday, where 20 couples will tie the knot.
