Notification implemented
Gandhinagar: The notification regarding hike in driving-related fees, enforced by the Centre under Central Motor Vehicle rules on Friday, has been implemented in the State. This was disclosed by Transport Secretary Jasvinder Singh Rana on Monday. Officials said the Chief Minister had earlier instructed the officials not to implement the notification as he felt it would alienate the truckers. 8220;But we have implemented it as the State cannot keep it in abeyance for long,8221; Rana said.

Elocution contest
Vadodara: An inter-school elocution contest will be organised by the Society For Clean Environment SOCLEEN at the University Experimental School on Tuesday. The speech has to be extempore and each participant will be given three minutes to speak on a topic they get five minutes earlier. All topics will be environment-related. Participants may speak in English, Gujarati or Hindi.

National award
Two members of the Bal Bhavan Society have been selected for receiving the National Bal Shree Awards. Vaibhav Patodia has been selected for creative writing and Atharwa Poundarik for creative science. The two would receive the awards at Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 16.

MSU centres
The Continuing Education Centre of the M S University has decided to start 1029 centres all over the district in a bid to help illiterate and neo-literate to continue their studies. An official release said 926 more teachers meant to run these centres had already been given two-month training recently. The centres would start functioning from November first week .
