
Mercury dips
A drop in the temperature saw residents of the city clad in colourful pullovers and shawls. Officials at the meteorological office said that the drop in the temperature was primarily due to the cold wave in the northern part of the country. They said the cold wave was likely to continue for a few more days.

Executive engineer of the Roads and Buildings Department of the Vadodara Municipal Corporation M P Bhalala has been promoted as the Chief Engineer for the State and additional secretary in the department, according to an official statement.
Inauguration
The new complex of the Fire Academy, set up by All-India Institute of Local Self-Government to impart training in fire fighting, will be inaugurated by State Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala on January 7. The fire training course is recognised by the State Government and the Fire Service College, England.
Skating contest
G Keshav, a student of the Baroda High School, Alkapuri represented Gujarat at the 18th Super National Skating Championship, which was held at the J D Tytler School recently in New Delhi. Keshav won the bronze medal during the four-day national championship.
