JALANDHAR, Nov 26: In an unprecedented security measure, all the windows and the main entrance door of the counting centre for the Adampur by-poll here have been sealed with bricks. The CRPF personnel have been deployed to keep a close vigil on the ballot boxes containing ballot papers that were polled yesterday. Counting of votes will start on November 28.

The fate of eight candidates, who are in the fray in the Adampur Assembly constituency is lying sealed in the ballot boxes. The main contest is between Akali candidate Dalbir Singh Dheerowal and Congress candidate Kanwaljit Singh Lalli.

Congressmen looked euphoric yesterday, with PPCC chief Capt Amarinder Singh saying, quot;we have won the seat.quot; Their optimism was sustained by the none- too-impressive show by the BSP at the electoral stalls outside the polling booths yesterday. Congressmen are hoping that the Dalits have voted for Congress candidate in large numbers.

BSP candidate Vidhwant Kaur also appeared downcast as she complained that Congressmen had spread the canard that she had retired from the contest in favour of the Congress candidate.
